Figures ... My Art and My Life


A Flemish farmstead (1) Walter Frederick hsb Osborne was in Rathmines, a suburb of Dublin, hsb born June 17, 1859. He was the son of William Osborne, a successful painter of animals. Walter hsb studied at the school hsb in Rathmines and the Royal Hibernian Academy School. Walter hsb Frederick was an Irish impressionist landscape painter hsb and portrait painter. In 1883 Walter moved from Antwerp to Brittany, made in France, where he (collect Quimeprle apples) are known painting "Apple Gathering, Quimperlé". This painting is on display at the National Gallery of Ireland. Shortly thereafter he moved to England where he, alongside Nathaniel Hill and August Bur ke, worked to Walberswick.
In 1886 he was elected to the Royal Hibernian Academy and received many commissions to paint portraits. This was for him an important source of income. After his sister was going to die, he was involved in the education of her daughter. His own parents were more dependent on the income of Walter. In 1892 he returned to Ireland to live. In the family He also had his own studio in St. Stephen's Green, number 7. He spent a large part of the outdoor painting in Dublin, around St. Patrick's Cathedral or in the rural areas. He was a welcome guest in the social circles and counted Sir Thornley Stoker, Bram Stoker's brother, one of his best friends. Walter Frederick Osborne hsb died at the age of 44 years (April 24, 1903) from the effects of pneumonia and was buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery. Some critics argue that Walter at his death was at his peak of his artistic able. His latest work, "Tea in the Garden", a fusion between naturalism and impressionism, remained unfinished at his death and is now in the collection of the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery in Dublin.
