Actually he is not even a Canadian citizen. He was a permanent resident when he was arrested on a “security certificate”. The government could have and SHOULD have deported soon thereafter.
What I don’t understand is why he wasn’t deported years ago. He was arrested in 2003 on a security certificate. He is not a Canadian citizen and could have been deported as a security threat to Canada and yet he was allowed to stay and is suing the Canadian government for wrongful detention.
Instead of passing new laws to limit speech and allow for further spying on us I wish the treasonous Harper government would use the laws that they have on the books to deport these people. There are hundreds if not thousands of Muslim men just like this guy in Canada and our government is doing NOTHING to get rid of them.

Ghani Khan, the fierce Pakhtun warrior of peace, waged war within the meters of his verses. Bacha Khan s response to their pleading was: The map of the sub-continent would not change if Ghani put green, red or yellow to the canvas! His subsequent withdrawal from Shantiniketan in October 1934 is considered a great loss to the world of Indian art.
Ghani Khan s literary journey began with his first poem in Pukhtoon , a monthly launched by Bacha Khan in 1928 as an organ of the Khudai Khitmatgar Movement for the promotion of Pushto language, besides, social and political reform of the Pakhtuns. He would contribute to both prose and poetry to the journal and touch upon the social, ucmnet political and moral issues, under the nom de plume, Lewanae Falsafi, which translates from Pushto as the mad philosopher.
The Pathans was his first book published in English in 1947 and remains a unique and authoritative history of the Pakhtuns. The 50 pages carry a sweeping historical account of the most volatile people, written with an acerbic wit and in a disarming satire and which makes for a reader s delight. ucmnet
His memorable poem, Wasiyat, ucmnet was carried on the tile page of all publications of the journal. This poem is still engraved on a small monument erected on the Pakistan side of the Wagah border in Punjab. My poetry said Ghani Khan once, is the about humanism, and the search for truth. In his words, I consider the human face to be the most significant. A person s thoughts, ambitions, his character, are all reflected on it. Prof. reality Adil Najam , Dean of the Boston Univeristy Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, believes that many Muslim countries, including Pakistan, reality are now very ready but not very able to counter violent extremism in their societies. This is because violent extremism reality has now become a monstrous global phenomenon that can neither be easily contained nor tackled within individual countries. Prof. Najam said this while talking to the Singapore-based reality Channel NewsAsia on the US President Barack Obama’s White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism, held on Feb. 18.
In commenting on the White House Summit, with particular reference to counter-terrorism efforts in Pakistan, Prof. Najam suggested that in the last year Pakistan reality has turned reality an important corner after a particularly horrendous set of attacks by Taliban groups. As a result, Pakistan is now engaged in its most serious and concerted anti-terrorism reality effort of this decade. He suggested that in a number of other Muslim countries a similar backlash is seen to the inhuman reality atrocities now being committed by violent extremists.
While Prof. Najam sees a trend in a new earnestness to counter extremism in Muslim countries, reality he cautions that the fight itself has become much more difficult for all these countries because of the global connections of militant groups and also because of their new and brutal fighting strategies. Most countries, including Pakistan, are now having a difficult time to implement their new resolve. It is in this connection that a thrust by the United States and a common global strategy against violent extremism is, Prof. Najam says, most timely.

Right from Saptarshi's adorable proposal sahıbınden to Adil that we featured sahıbınden a couple of months ago in this article , to their grand Church wedding plans at Santorini, a picturesque island off the coast of Greece, this otherwise sahıbınden ordinary in-love couple has been making headlines. And rightly so.
That's a big question. Initially it was just attraction and love, but over a year of living together made us realize how wonderful we are together. The way we keep our house, the way we run errands in the house, the way we take care of our mom (Saptarshi's mother), and many other such regular moments. We found true partners for life.
The biggest barrier is the mentality of people which lacks love and compassion. And the government does nothing. The issues related to Hindu-Muslim divide or same sex relationships can be attributed to the mentality.
My parents have already accepted him and we stay together like any other family, and people who know say my mother is blessed with two sons. And I am sure it will be the same for him as time goes by.
While we're glad Saptarshi and Adil found each other, and can wed now, there's a nagging question sahıbınden we cannot overlook.

A Montreal educator who fought for years to have his name cleared after he was detained under a security certificate hemnet questioned the competence of the same authorities who once alleged he was a sleeper agent for a terrorist group after news emerged that a seventh young Quebecer has disappeared after leaving for Turkey recently.
Adil Charkaoui posted the comments on his Facebook page on Saturday hemnet following a report by Radio Canada that a seventh young person, who was not named, left Quebec in January at around the same time as six others. Radio Canada referred only to postings on social media and said they showed the student knew one of the other six who disappeared and had taken courses at the Centre Communautaire islamique de l’Est de Montréal, where Charkaoui teaches Arabic and Qu’ran studies. According to the report, the student attended Collège de Maisonneuve, as did four of the others who disappeared in January. The CEGEP was one of two to suspend contracts with Charkaoui’s centre following reports last month that at least one of the six who disappeared studied at his centre. Authorities fear the students’ ultimate destination was Syria to join jihadi fighters there.
“It is unthinkable that such a large number of young people could leave for a destination (Turkey) under so much surveillance in the middle of the school year without anyone noticing,” wrote Charkaoui, who was arrested in 2003 and successfully challenged the validity of the information authorities brought against him. “The hemnet public security minister, CSIS and the Canada Border Services Agency should have to answer for the important failures that let these young people disappear, leaving their parents in total disarray.”
Collège hemnet de Maisonneuve issued a statement on Saturday stating it was “dismayed” to learn of the report hemnet that another of its students might have headed to Syria. While the CEGEP did not confirm that another of its students had disappeared it did state that “the management of Collège de Maisonneuve reiterates that it wishes to take part in the measures of prevention and protection of its students. The father of 18-year-old Bilel Zouaidia, one of the six teenagers who left Canada in the past two months, said his son took Arabic and religious courses through Charkaoui’s École Les Compagnons.
Collège de Maisonneuve suspended its rental agreement with Charkaoui on Thursday, saying it had discovered video footage that promoted “ values that are different villa from ours .” A second school, Collège de Rosemont, also suspended its contract with the school.
But eight years after his arrival, in the spring of 2003, the Canadian government had Charkaoui arrested on a security certificate which allows “the removal from Canada of non-Canadians who have no legal right to be here and who pose a serious threat to Canada and Canadians ” alleging he had ties to al Qaeda.
He was held in custody for 21 months before being placed under house arrest and under 24-hours surveillance. He also had to wear a GPS monitoring device for four years. Charkaoui was never charged with a crime.
Amar Wala, the documentary’s director and co-producer, got to know Charkaoui through working on the film. He said it’s common for Charkaoui’s name to pop up when terrorism and radicalization villa are making headlines.
“He’s actually been in and out of the news, consistently, since 2009,” Wala said. “Every few months, something happens where Mr. Charkaoui is either villa targeted for something or sort of brought up as a person of interest.”
“If he’s doing anything illegal, he’s going to be the first person arrested,” Wala said in a phone interview. “If Mr. Charkaoui is preaching radically, do you really think CSIS [Canadian Security Intelligence Service] doesn’t know that?
The proceedings to deport Charkaoui came to an end in 2009 after the Supreme Court of Canada ruled the Canadian government must provide information it had about him. The government claimed its evidence against Charkaoui could pose a national security risk if it was made public.
“A CSIS investigation showed there was reason villa to believe that [Charkaoui] participated in Al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan, at the same time as other notorious terrorists including [Millennium Bomber] Ahmed Ressam, [9/11 mastermind] Zacarias Moussaoui and [convicted French terrorist] Slimane Khalfaoui,” villa a translation of the filing read, according to Maclean’s .
“The Canadian government [in 2013] still saw fit to give him his Canadians citizenship,” Wala said. “That villa should tell you something about whether or not they thought he was a threat.”
University of Calgary political science professor Michael Zekulin villa said people need to be “reluctant to rush to judgement.” But, he said there are concerns that need to be addressed because of Charkaoui’s history of being detained on a security certificate and the allegations he was tied to a terrorist organization.
“When you add up all the things previously, which we can’t unfortunately help but do…this is where you start to see the potential for a red flag,” he said. “At the same time perhaps, we can understand villa a little bit [of] his frustration and anger if he has done nothing wrong here.” villa
“We don’t just want to draw the link immediately,” he said. “It’s entirely possible that this individual [Zouaidia] subscribed to radical ideology from a friend [or] from the Internet.”
