A filthy rich businessman in Frederikstad being strangled with piano wire few days after he opposed a contract for an environmentally damaging large project on the extraction characteristics of oil sands in Canada. A contract he and his company have worked a long time to get in the house, which could generate large revenues. Shortly after the murder characteristics becomes a mafioso, Vincent Giordano, who is right at the top of New York City's underworld, found badly injured in a ditch nearby. It is the famous and infamous and police Superintendent Anton Brekke, who will put on the case. I think at least average quality is very high. This is not one of those who pull up, but still the piece of solid and entertaining craft which Fjell committed his first crime novel in a series about Anton Brekke. Brekke is a good figure, although he did not yet have set themselves characteristics the big track, but it can probably come in future releases. The story is good and works well with its flashbacks to Vincent Giordano's life and Mafia career in the 60s. And there is a correlation between these back and glimpse the book's plot. OK thriller from Frederiksstad and New York City - but without being memorable ... And Merry Christmas, if you are reading this on the release date. (People's Press, 386 pages.
